More Than Feeding:

A Regional Nutrition Model,
Tailored to Local Realities

The Asia Lunchbox Fund is Calls Over Ridges’ regional nutrition initiative, working across Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. More than a meal program, it uses school-based nutrition as an entry point to strengthen educational continuity, healthier daily practices, and long-term sustainability.
What gives the model its strength is the combination of regional scale, disciplined local execution, and rigorous measurement. Each country program is adapted to its context while tracking meaningful outcome-level data such as nutritional status, attendance, and participation.

For partners seeking a cross-country platform with both scale and adaptability, the Asia Lunchbox Fund offers a model that is measurable, locally grounded, and built for lasting impact.

“At Calls Over Ridges, we believe child nutrition must do more than fill a plate. The Asia Lunchbox Fund is built to create stronger outcomes across countries through disciplined local execution, meaningful measurement, and long-term sustainability.”

— Kash Lin, CEO & Co-founder, Calls Over Ridges

“The strength of the Asia Lunchbox Fund is not only that it works across countries, but that it can be tailored with discipline in each one. We combine regional scale with local execution, measurable outcomes, and long-term sustainability — so that nutrition support leads to stronger education, healthier behavior, and systems that can endure.”

ALF Methodology

Creating Regional impact
that lasts

The Asia Lunchbox Fund combines regional scale, local adaptation, and rigorous evaluation. Across countries, we tailor delivery to local systems while tracking meaningful outcome-level data such as nutritional status, attendance, and workshop participation.

Country Models in Action

Across the region, the same strategic direction is expressed through different local models. The Asia Lunchbox Fund currently spans Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with Nepal presented here as a leading example of the model in practice.

Nepal:
A Four-Pillar Model

In Nepal, the Asia Lunchbox Fund is structured around four pillars: nutrition, education, health and hygiene, and community empowerment. It combines school engagement, local sourcing, and long-term measurement to build a nutrition model designed for continuity. A strong example is the monthly bring-your-own-lunch activity, which helps the team see how training and workshops are shaping food choices at home and reinforcing healthier behavior over time.

Philippines:
A Community-Based Model

In Siargao Island, the Philippines model works closely with parents, teachers, local partners, and barangay leaders. It combines school meals with workshops, parent leadership development, community kitchens, and kitchen gardens. One distinctive tool is the cookbook Gana sa Isla, created with mothers from the community to connect local ingredients, practical knowledge, and nutrition education in ways families can use over time.

A Flexible Model, A Shared Goal

Across countries, implementation may look different, but the goal is shared: healthier children, stronger school participation, and communities that are better equipped to sustain change over time.
This balance between regional direction and local execution is one of the Asia Lunchbox Fund’s greatest strengths. It allows us to work at a meaningful scale, adapt to context, and invest in local systems that make nutrition support more durable and more effective.
